Tokaj-Hegyalja, located in the northeast regions of Hungary, is famous for its sweet wines. The wine region has its own traditions of making wine by using the grapes affected by the so-called Botrytis cinerea noble rot. According to a legend, the fi rst aszu wine was produced by Máté Szepsi Laczkó in 1630. Tokay wines were already served in the Versailles court of Louis XIV. The French king was highly impressed by it, he offered it to Madame Pompadour with the following words: Wine of Kings, King of Wines.

The Dereszla cellar was owned by the Hungarian kings in the 15-16th century, the fi rst written records date back to 1406. Chateau Dereszla was founded in the 18th century. Starting in the 2000s, the technological and technical background was renewed along with the winetanks, and the pressing and bottling technology. This was followed by the complete reconstruction of the more than 1-km- long historical cellar system, then the renovation of the storage and service facilities. Henye Winery, belonging to the Dereszla group was fi nished in 2014, as a greenfi eld investment, equipped with the technology suitable for traditional champagne making.
